Original Painting by John Trumbull |

|
Painted hand carved wood sculpture by Salazar and Mosley |
The sculpture is based
on the back of the Commemorative Note on the two dollar bill.

The 1976 $2 note was issued in commemoration of
the American Independence Bicentennial. The note was changed from the original design with
the reverse depicting a scene from John Trumbell's "Signing of the Declaration of
Independence". This issue was released April 13th, Jefferson's birthday. The $2 note
never became popular in most areas of the United States and today most of the $2 Federal
Reserve Notes rest in bank vaults.
